My wonderful husband loves to play the guitar and has a good singing voice. So, there are many evenings that we will sit by the fire with a musical accompaniment – my husband and his friends.
The following is a list of the most played songs around our campfires.
- Wagon Wheel – Old Crow Medicine Show
- House of the Rising Sun – The Animals
- Home For A Rest – Spirit of The West
- To Be With You – Mr. Big
- Better Together – Jack Johnson
- Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
- Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond
- Mr. Jones – Counting Crows
- Last Kiss – Pearl Jam
- Wheat Kings – Tragically Hip
Listening to music around a fire may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is definitely one of our favourite things to do.
It always surprises us how fellow campers are drawn into the music. We often have strangers come over and sit by our fire to listen to the music. Occasionally, we will even have other campers join us with their musical instruments.
Our campfire playlist usually changes every summer, as new songs come out and influences change. I wonder how the hit-list will change this summer. One summer it was a steady stream of Jack Johnson. Last summer there was a lot of Pearl Jam. Who knows where it will go this summer.
I am also trying recall all of the instruments that have been played around one of our fires – guitars, bongos, shakers, violin, and spoons. I bought my husband a cajon for Christmas, so I’m excited to see him play it around the fire as well.
Campfires, singing, and good friends – come on summer!
