Toilet Training Your Dog In Someone Else’s Trailer

Our family consists of myself, my husband, our two beautiful girls, a dog and a cat. The cat is our newest addition to the family and he has not made his maiden voyage to the campsite yet. The dog, on the other hand, is an experienced camper….now!

Our dog is a 1.5 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix, some would say a mutt, named Ramsy. He is a great dog – he is friendly, he barks only on occasion and he is very affectionate.

Ramsy, as a puppy!

Ramsy, all tuckered out at the campsite.

This Funny Friday story is about my dog Ramsy:

May 2013

(insert Wayne’s World flashback noises here!)

We were all having a great time at a “coworker camping get-together” on a long-weekend last summer, when some of the guys realized that they were thirsty. So, my husband and a colleague of mine, let’s call him Corey, decided to go for a walk and search for something to quench their thirst.

They walked over to Corey’s trailer, with Ramsy, and went inside to make some drinks. Ramsy had spent the entire day outside with us and my husband thought it would be nice to take him for a bit of a walk. I’m not sure if they were “shaking” or “stirring” when they realized what Ramsy was doing – he decided to defecate in Corey’s trailer.

At this point my embarrassed husband takes the dog back outside and gives the dog a lecture. He then spends a few more minutes outside with the dog, to make sure than he has finished his business, and then returns inside. Once inside the boys continue on with their drinks while joking about the incident and cleaning up the mess. This is when my lovely dog decides that he is not quite finished and completes his bowel movement on Corey’s floor.

Needless to say the dog wasn’t allowed in anyone’s trailer, but our own, for the rest of the weekend.

Just the other day this story came up in the lunchroom! Good times! 🙂

Let’s hope the dog makes it through this summer without any more “pooping in trailers” stories.
