Even our dog, Ramsy, is getting ready for camping season.
Storage Solutions For Our Kitchen
First off, 6 more sleeps till the start of camping season! Yay!
Now that my excitement and countdown is out there, I can continue on with my storage solutions.
I would like to share with you how I organized my kitchen cupboards in my trailer.
I am very fortunate to have very deep cupboards. The wall is more than an arm’s length away from the cupboard, which allows me to store our toaster and coffee maker on the counter permanently.
Outdoor Chalkboard Paint To Spruce Up The Shed
A month or two ago I wrote about our shed design – here, here and here.
I was very lucky to have a friend of mine, who is a shop Teacher, build it for us with his class.
I wanted a shed that would be relatively lightweight and portable. It has made it’s journey home, but we have not assembled it yet. When we do, it will be at the campsite and I will document the assembly process – for those of you who are curious about the design.
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you how we spruced up the shed with outdoor chalkboard paint.
Spring Cleaning At The Campsite
This is our first year as extended stay (otherwise known as seasonal) campers.
It has been a big adjustment for us and we haven’t even really started the camping season yet.
One adjustment we have had to make is to wrap our minds around the fact that this is like a second property.

How To Take A Bath While Camping
Now to some, personal hygiene is not of great importance when roughing it in the woods. I am currently hearing my husband’s impersonation of the Tim the Toolman Taylor grunt.
For others, all the outdoorsy stuff makes them want a shower even more. I fall under this category.
Monday’s Marshmallow Moments
My girls sitting dock-side at Bartlett Lodge in Algonquin Provincial Park. Each time we visit the park we make a supper reservation – Yummy!

Shopping and Stockpiling
Stocking up the trailer is a big expense every summer.
- Soap
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Condiments
- Salt
- Pepper
- Spices
- Non-Perishables
- Snacks
- Marshmallows
The list goes on and on.
A second place of residence means two fridges and two pantries.

Drawer Organization
You realize how important organization is when you are spending several months of the year in a living space of 300 square feet.
But wait, it’s not only one person in the confined quarters – it’s 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog and 1 cat.
So, how do we survive do it?
Well, I am a little OCD when in comes to organization and finding optimal storage solutions.
A perfect example is how I organize our drawers in the trailer.
